We couldn’t do what we do without our wonderful Volunteers at DS Achieve!
Rachel is married to Steve and they have four children. Their eldest daughter Alanna was born in 2009 and she has Down Syndrome.
Rachel qualified as an accountant in 2006, specialising in audit and accounts preparation. Following the decision not to return to paid work after the birth of her first child, Rachel has instead shared her skills with a number of local charities and organisations as a volunteer. Over the past twelve years she has held a variety of voluntary position including treasurer of the Harpenden NCT branch, school governor of a nursery school where she currently chairs the Resources Committee and Independent Examiner for a local charity.
Rachel is committed to helping families access the support and provision that they need. In 2011, Rachel successfully completed a breastfeeding peer support training programme that enabled her to work with new parents and their babies at her local Children’s Centre and the L&D hospital, signposting them to relevant organisations and providing a friendly ear.
Rachel is excited to be supporting DS Achieve as their Finance Volunteer.
