For School-aged children (5-17 years)

Our weekly Play and Learn Hub is a weekly Stay and Play group running on Saturday afternoons (during term time) for primary age children with Down Syndrome and their parents or carers.

The group is all about friendship, fun and positivity, helping children feel confident and included. The sessions provide a relaxed, welcoming space where children can play, explore and connect with others, supported by their parents and our team.

Each Stay & Play session is relaxed, welcoming and child-led, with a mix of free play and supported activities.

You can expect:

  • A warm welcome from the Play and Learn Hub team

  • A range of play-based activities, such as games, crafts, movement and sensory play

  • Opportunities for children to play alongside peers, practise social skills and build friendships

  • Time and space for parents to stay with their child, join in if they wish, or chat with other families

  • A flexible approach - children are free to move between activities and take breaks when they need to

There is no pressure for children to take part in everything. Every child is encouraged to engage in ways that feel comfortable for them.

Each term, private therapists (Physio / OT / SALT) and other professionals will visit the group for you to chat with 1:1, ask questions and get advice. These visits are occasional, and therapists will not attend every week.
